My focus in 2008 is to stop and smell the flowers. Well, more precisely to pay attention to details. Pause long enough to take it all in - be in the moment - appreciate the little thing - live mindfully.
I can only take SO MANY photos of my kids and the landscape these days is pretty dang bland. I love macro photography and winter is as good a time as any to get back into it. Also, macro photography makes you stop and look at the details, discover things otherwise overlooked, and pause for composure. To be ultimately successful, a tripod is usually required. But hey, I'm lazy. So adding a tripod next time will be another focus for me in 2008.
So, here is week 2 of POTD and my focus into 2008.
And I can't resist the temptation to include the shot of the dd. Even if I do have SO MANY shots of her!
The small print on the photos that is illegible:
flower shots - top at f/3.2, 1/100, ISO 400, shot indoors with Canon 100mm macro lens; next 2 at f/2.8, 1/100, ISO 400, shot indoors with Canon 100mm macro
DD shot - f/2.8, 1/125, ISO 400, Canon 24-70 2.8L lens at 66mm
Parents, if you want wonderful pictures of your children, never teach them to say "cheese"! Please learn from my mistake or you will have thousands of photos just like mine - squinted eyes, scrunched up noses, clenched teeth, and an image that just screams "say cheez!!!". Join me while I search for that one perfect shot that doesn't conjure up images of dairy products. Oh, and unless you like that *messy* look, you'll probably want to clean their faces before you snap away. I never seem to remember myself.
An imporant sidenote is to make sure you document your life! Recording the little details of the who, what, where, when, & why makes for wonderful stories and captures your life for years to come. Because if you are like me, you'll forget it all 5 minutes later!
