It makes taking pictures indoors so much nicer! We have a lot of trees and woods around our house and it faces north, so there isn't a great deal of wonderful natural light to work with. Even in the middle of the day, in late spring, I still need to use a flash to get a decent exposure. Thankfully my cloudy Lightspere does a great job of helping me out!
Oh, and I can't believe this is my little 6 year old boy. He is just looking so much older these days...another reminder that time goes by in a flash!
Original image, applied Lightroom's basic color "punch" preset and then ran a USM and sharpened for the web
Image cropped in, did a gradient map layer, and played with the brightness and contrast till I liked what I saw. I am planning on re-doing one of my photo walls with a bunch of 12x12 photographs, so I am starting to play around with my images to see what works!
Parents, if you want wonderful pictures of your children, never teach them to say "cheese"! Please learn from my mistake or you will have thousands of photos just like mine - squinted eyes, scrunched up noses, clenched teeth, and an image that just screams "say cheez!!!". Join me while I search for that one perfect shot that doesn't conjure up images of dairy products. Oh, and unless you like that *messy* look, you'll probably want to clean their faces before you snap away. I never seem to remember myself.
An imporant sidenote is to make sure you document your life! Recording the little details of the who, what, where, when, & why makes for wonderful stories and captures your life for years to come. Because if you are like me, you'll forget it all 5 minutes later!

Great use of the flash. I love my light sphere also..
Great light, I need to look into one of those!
Love that color shot! He looks so mature for 6! Wow! I love my Lightsphere, too, although everyone else looks at me kind of weird when it's attached to my camera!
Nice job with flash! You're a good sport about the theme; I've been a big baby about it. :-) He is so handsome!
Awesome use of the flash! I like your processing as well!
What a great shot...and he definitely looks older then 6!!
Beautiful - the eyes are just terrific!
Whoa...that BnW is freakin' awesome! Your contrast is so great, love-love-love!!!!
Great shot of your little man, he's so handsome! My favorite is the color version. I'm going to B&H next week, so I'm going to check out the Lightsphere. :)
Wow...really amazing. I just think he is MADE for the camera, you know? Great job with your flash.
Great shot! I might have to get me one of those!
