Parents, if you want wonderful pictures of your children, never teach them to say "cheese"! Please learn from my mistake or you will have thousands of photos just like mine - squinted eyes, scrunched up noses, clenched teeth, and an image that just screams "say cheez!!!". Join me while I search for that one perfect shot that doesn't conjure up images of dairy products. Oh, and unless you like that *messy* look, you'll probably want to clean their faces before you snap away. I never seem to remember myself.

An imporant sidenote is to make sure you document your life! Recording the little details of the who, what, where, when, & why makes for wonderful stories and captures your life for years to come. Because if you are like me, you'll forget it all 5 minutes later!

Rocky Mountain High

Well I finally got to spend a long weekend away with my hubby this past weekend for some R&R. At least it was supposed to be R&R until I got on the slopes. You see, we went to west for some skiing. And the last time I went skiing was 8 years ago, before I had my 3 children. And I must say that my body has changed quite a bit in those 8 years, not least of which is my strength and mental capacity to conquer new heights. It ain't there. I forgot how challenging it can be to sache elegantly down a slope, especially when said slope is facing east and the spring's sun rays have turned the snow into piles of wet clumpy cement! So, instead I plowed my way down the mountain at my own sweet pace while 4 year olds careened right past me at lightning speed. After a day at Vail and a day at Breckenridge my R&R was more like reckless and ridiculous rather than rest and relaxation. The good news is that I only fell twice and I don't think either time was my fault. At least I can play it off that way. The other good news is that the views were spectacular and I love the Rockies and Red Rock was incredible. The lack of O2 certainly was a factor for me...hey, maybe that is why I was so ski challenged! Yea, that's it - I had a Rocky Mountain High! And I'm too old to ski when I'm high. ;-) So, here are a couple of pics I got of the scenery. From the ground. No way was I going to lug my camera up the slopes. I'm a bit insane at times, but not stupid.

(ok, dh took this one with his pocket p&s as we were riding the chair lift up the mountain)

wow.. fab shots. I love #3, at first I thought it was taken off angle, until I noticed the tree was standing upright. Love the mountains.... I'm a mountain girl at heart, who just happens to live at the beach.

This is my backyard!!!

I absolutely LOVE Vail, but never pay the $ to ski there, I settle for Loveland and Monarch.

You are making me extremely jealous! I've been pregnant during each ski season for the past 3 years and skiing is my passion, so it just kills me to have to sit in the lodge, drinking hot chocolate.

Thanks for sharing and I like the P&S shot in the lift, those are my favorite kind of shots to take on the slopes. I've got a whole album filled with crazy faces.

During Spring Break, you'll see lots of bras and undies on the trees...did you see mine?
